REDPACK TOMATOES
Elwood Indiana
FOREIGN OBJECT PACKED IN CAN
We purchased several cans of Diced Tomatoes which were canned and distributed by REDPACK
We never suspected that in one of the cans was an inedible piece of vine obviously from one of the tomatoes which, made it through the Quality Control process, that is, IF there was a "Quality Control" process in place, and was packed in the can along with the diced tomato product.
A family member gagged on the foreign matter as it became stuck in their throat.
Naturally panic set in as they tried to dislodge the foreign matter but it remained stuck.
Finally after about ten minutes the family member retched and it came out.
This was on Christmas Day Monday 12/25/2017
Because it was a holiday we knew that we would not be able to reach the producer of the product so we initiated a telephone call to RED-GOLD LLC on Tuesday 12/26/2017.
Here is what we had to listen to when the call was "answered,"

So, they are "closed" to spend some time with family and friends, but the announcement doesn't state anything about whether they will be closed ALL week or if they will be open beginning on Wednesday 12/27/17, and immediately following these contradicting messages it tells you to "hold for the next available agent."
If they ARE closed then just who are you "holding on for?"
How about the chutzpah and the level of irresponsibility of this business concern!
We "held on" for twenty minutes and being that we were NOT responded to by anyone we hung up the phone.
THIS is the "foreign matter," (on the left side of the card below) that should NEVER BE INCLUDED AND DOES NOT belong anywhere within the can of REDPACK DICED TOMATOES and which gagged and seriously panicked a family member:
This is the UPC code:
This is the lid of the can:
This is by no means the first time that we have found various "debris" contained within a can of their tomato products. We also found bits of unidentifiable substances in their cans of tomato products and these are substances which should NEVER have made it through their "Quality Control" process, again that is IF they even have one!
www.suffolkconsumer recommends and strongly URGES the general public ANYWHERE AND EVERYWHERE NOT to purchase any products of RedPack Tomato Sauce, RedPack Diced Tomatoes or any other canned tomato products produced by REDPACK of Elwood Indiana!
DON'T BUY ANY REDPACK PRODUCT!
WHERE IS THE QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT AND QUALITY CONTROL PROCESS OF THIS COMPANY?
Furthermore, after we called them on the telephone notifying them about this harrowing incident they said that they'd get back to us forthwith!
THAT WAS more than FOUR (4) WEEKS AGO!
THEY NEVER CALLED US BACK!
KEEP THIS IN MIND ABOUT REDPACK SO THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS ALSO!
REDPACK DIDN'T FOLLOW UP WITH US AND THEY MOST LIKELY WILL DO THE SAME TO YOU!
